I used 1175 when I did some results last year, can't remember where I got it from but good bet it was sailwave. It certainly isn't 1075 as that implies it is sailing off nearly the same handicap as my Lark.
Edit - well I am surprised... Sailwave have it listed as 1075 Another edit - Dinghy Magazine has it as 1175 in their boat review November 2003... So I must have got it from there. When we brought the boat we were told by topper that it should be 1175 but i have been told by Sailwave and other people that it should be 1075. But i believe it should be 1175. |

yee could be, sailwave is the only place i can find it where it is published as 1075, because I searched on google and other clubs had used it as 1175. Any more comments will be appreciated Josh |

1175 is the same as a 4.7 or comet duo. it seems to me like topper are taking liberties as the vibe and topaz tres also sit at 1175 and both carry around four times the sail area of a 4.7 and similarly weighted hulls ------------- |

Hi, Our club purchased a 'nearly new' Magno Sport at the start of this season as a training / hire boat. Topper suggested 1175 as the PY but couldn't confirm if this was the sport or the normal one. At the time sailwave had 1200 listed. We currently use the 1175 which seems about right given that the boat is generally used by beginners and the spinaker is very rarely used (we sail on a narrow river) Can't help thinking that an experienced crew on a course with a proportion of reaching would walk a handicap race on 1175. It's not as quick as a double bottom N12 but certainly quicker than a Graduate or Solo on everything bar the beat The boat has proved a popular purchase, so much so that one new couple have now bought their own - and are already winning races in it!

We have two Magnos at our club and 1175 seems to suit fairly well.
They do seem to go well in the light stuff, perhaps due to the incredible weight of all that plastic providing incredible levels of momentum for a boat so small. |
