the best way of improving the website is just kill the 'over-forumitis", junk all of them down to just
General Dinghies Multihulls Keelbooats
and scrap the rest - why the hell do you need a 'how old is your boat' forum. Sure then you can have great threads like the "photos" one running for ages.
if people want to comment on this issues of the day - e.g. current standings in the holland regatta, amazing photies fom the lark inlands, then where do people post? - dighy development - well it's not that exactly.
if you check the boards website you'll notice they have about 7 or so, focusing on General, Kit, Techmique, Locations, Weather, Sessions and Vans - less forums = more activity in each one, and people more likely to read more threads. If someone is interested in "insure issues" then just start a new thread/topic in the general forum surely.
Sort it out Mark when you have 5 mintes please. I can't imagine anyone else actually likes it as it is.

Its absolutly fine as it is Mr. 2 Posts. Mark does a fantastic Job. 5 free minutes is the last thing he has right now anyway.

After you have clicked on "Forums" try clicking on "Active topics". Then you will only get the latest postings.
Anyways, welcome to the Forum. Give it about one week, then you should have sussed it all out by then

I can sympathise with you, laser4000. You might feel a little disorientated at first, if you're not used to it. But take your time and have a look around. OK, there's quite a bit of waffle here and there, but that's also part of a conversation. We can't all adhere to the same sensible rules that govern this one:

And if you take the Banter section away, I would have nowhere to post.
Welcome on board!

Top tip Laser 4000 - don't use phrases like 'Sort it out Mark' when you want something done here. I've just had a very hard week and don't need comments like that. Try wording like 'How about looking into a change?'
I do think we need a general re-think on the forum headings though. Also I will be linking threads to articles and other sections soon to give the site a more 'community' feel. Much easier on the new server.
Other than that, welcome to the forum!

Hmm laser 4000, whoever you are. As a fellow 4000 sailior i am very dishartened at this very narrowminded view! Hang your head in shame, and mark this is one 4000 sailor that isnt dissapointed in the forum!

I like it how it is, at least this way you can look at exactly what you want to, bit harsh on your second post telling them to sort it out cant be that easy with so many posters and users of the forum. This is a top forum, no need for change.

yeh it leave it as it is, but i can sympathise a bit. some of the sub-forum thingies do seem a bit odd, like "how old is your boat?".

It's a bit like gardening really. Some threads will grow and others will die and wither, some will need cutting back and some will need replanting. I think you get the metaphor.
I would be in favour of gingering the site up a bit as a lot of these forums look much the same and a whole screenful of animated avatars hurts your eyes, especially if the page only consists of 2 posters.

Long week Mark??
Seriously well done and thanks for all the work you put in.
I think the topic issue of cut the number of Forums down is going to split the populace wide. Personally I like it as it is, I only tend to read the dinghy related threads and the banter section.
