My heart goes out to the family of the gentleman lost on ABN Amro 2, and of course the crew of this boat, and to all those people racing or conected with the race. such sadness.

Not much we can all really say about this. My thoughts go out too.

It is a reminder that we all participate in an 'extreme' sport and sometimes things go wrong.

It is a great tragedy and a terrible experience for all those involved, but it is not the first and it most definitely won't be the last. Ocean racing is, by it's very nature, attracting participants prepared to face the challenges and dangers. You take all the sensible precautions you can but you can't prevent everything.

My thoughts and prayers too are with the friends and family of Hans Horrevoets.

It's so tragic, sailing's such a great sport but when accidents like this happen we all feel massive sympathy and are reminded of how dangerous ocean racing is.  My thoughts are with the dutch family too but also, as headfry said, with the crew of the boat who have all lost a great friend...the morale on that boat must be at rock bottom, so sad...
