Hi folks.....question for you

What lip balm do you find works best  for sore lips after a day on the water?

Mine felt like cobble stones last week, talk about cracked and lumpy.

Boots Wonderbalm in the Mediterranean range. It contains olive oil and sage and rosemary. Even if it doesn't work, it helps you build an appetite for a Sunday roast! Nah, it doesn't smell but it's brilliant on the lips, as well as all the sore bits you can get: my hands get very dry and the skin cracks sometimes and that Wonderbalm is the only thing that works.... and it doesn't sting!

Good luck  Soon to be baby-soft lips!

This advice is given in the most masculine way possible!!

But the best is called Carmex. It comes in a little yellow pot, and you get it from places like Boots or Superdrug.

The fact it comes in a little pot that you have to stick your finger in and then wipe it on your lips makes it loads less embarassing to use than a lipstick style one.

that carmex one is great! and its all crazy and tingly too! but...

cant beat nivea repair and protection lipbalm, and it comes with a really nice colour top too...maybe a little girly tho, but that doesnt bother me and i would say its the best i have tried sooo...

won't get better than petroleum jelly! it has other uses as well............like sore lips when skiing. And comes is small useful tubs which can esily slip into a pocket on a bouyancy aid. Will also soften the hard skin on your feet - in fact I think it will almost soften anything!

Vaseline is my favourite. It comes in little flat round pots that fit into pockets. There are several different 'flavours' but frankly, the plain one is fine. Who needs menthol? Yuk!

Sore lips are caused because you lick them too much, this makes them feel better for a short time before the wind dries them out very quickly, causing you to lick them again, this just makes things worse, it is like the itch scratch itch cycle.

The best way to prevent sore lips, is to stick your finger up your rectum. Then wipe your finger on your lips. It will not totally stop the chapping but it will stop you from licking them.

Dental wax works best for me.  Heat it up a bit and then rub it on.........

Vaseline is the best but not very manly becuase its also a gloss. Its very useful to have though becuase it has loads of uses.

I get enough hassle from my friends for being a sailor! Imagine what they're gonna say if I start keeping a pot of vaseline in my sailing bag!
