Hi everyone.
Im not sure if this is allowed or not  but i just thort id let people know about the Assymetric and catamaran open at Kielder Water SC this weekend. It is a Scottish Skiff Racing grand prix event sponsered by Trident-uk and a SNECCA event (cant remember what it stands for but it is a cat racing thing). If you have no plans for the weekend and fancy some competitive racing with some skiffs and cats from north of the border then come along. registration closes at 12:00 on sat with the 1st race at 13:00. no races will start later than 15:00 on the sun. i think we are expecting a fairly good MPS turn out. trhere is also a start for none SSR qualifying boats (doublehanded PY<930 or singlehanded PY <990).
See some of you there i hope
cheers
Fergus holland

Thanks for the hospitality Fergus -  a good event. Saturday was a blast - just a shame about Sunday although the hot sun at Keilder in April was a suprise!

Yep it sure is. Good to see the boat back on the water after a less than successful Weston Grand Slam!

im not so upset about sunday - i got a go in a very nice cherub (primal screem) and a go in a 600 which are both possible boats for next season.and atom bom is has possibly the sexiest sails in the world! they did break their tiller tho. there is a report on the SSR event on the y&y homepage at the moment.

i dont know what you are talking about - the weather is never anything but sunny and hot at kielder!

Yes, it's me. It was a fantastic weekend, and it was great to really get the boat going in some breeze and get some fantastic photos.

Had some funny looks on monday at work as I had a monster bruise on my elbow from somewhere, don't remember getting that...

Keilder is a lovely place to sail and has a fantastic, friendly club. Always worth the 14ish hours of driving!

Ah you never remember the best bruises, i put that down to the adrenaline at the time and you're normally more focussed on not hitting the mast (or new sails in your case) in the pitchpole!

Pitchpole? What pitchpole? It's all lies.

We did manage to capsize backwards when a big gust of wind got under the bow & flipped her over on one particularly crappy tack .

Yes and it never rains in Manchester. This was Keilder on my last visit (I admit it was February and it only lasted 45 minutes!). It's a great lake and even in February was stunning - enough at least to make me want to come back and do the event last weekend.

I might be back for the Dam to Dam race (where on earth is the second Dam) and I might do it in my recently aquired 29er. I've not even sailed it yet and my crew has never trapezed - so if you see an out of control boat with Dad & Daughter combination on board - come and give us some tips!

Yup, that can be Kielder in February, but as you saw we get enough good days to keep us coming back.

The other dam is at the north west end and is just for the sake of beauty - to stop the very top section from going muddy and dull when levels are down. It's true!

I love the races there and back and we get them every month.Tongue

I'm looking forward to the Dad and Daughter combination.

well me and my bro will be there in our 29er i think (home club), the other end of the lake is roughly 6 miles i think (not sure) but it is always a good race. there might also be another 29er from the scottish squad so you will be in good company! (we will be falling over all the way up and down i should imagine!) hope 2 see you there!
