So Mark can we assume that you wander the forum late at night disguised as a large rumped individual making untrustworthy posts to catch out unwary forumites?

Well believe it or not, I got fooled yesterday.. a plaintive cry of: "it's april, isn't it.." and no, I wasn't taken in.

TT, brilliant and probably more than a grain of truth in it.

Did you write it yourself TT? Not too busy today, then...

Anyway, it's brilliant!

As Ben was saying earlier, both of us were almost caught out by this one...

http://www.ybw.com/auto/newsdesk/20060301070140ywnews.html - http://www.ybw.com/auto/newsdesk/20060301070140ywnews.html

but in all fairness we read it at 8pm (ish) on the 3rd, noticed the date, discussed it a bit and came up with the conclusion, definately an April Fools Hoax. One of the better one's I've seen though and reading it after April fools day and at first not noticng when it was sent, had us slightly worried momentarily

Because we do have speed restrictions where I sail, only applicaple to powered craft, think its either limited to 5 or 8 knots. Wouldn't be suprised if at some point the government decided to put up speed cameras at some point to get more money off fines and they usually use some daft excuse to provide a new ruling. Reckon they'd be rolling it in if they proposed a scheme which was mentioned in that hoax and remember the minister who would be proposing would probably not know anything about sailing and would only be hearing "CA-CHING" in his ears.

Also it wasn't April the 1st when we were reading it, and speed restrictions aren't that unusual... fair enough it's obvious when you look at it knowing it's a hoax, but if you don't it's good!

Yeh When I saw that one its pretty confusing because it seriously could happen - il b shocked if the people who would want to put speed restrictions in would know the first thing about sailing.

We have restrictions on our lake because its got a nature reserve at one end and speed restrictions on the Deben which has been known to have actual speed traps on it - Luckily we get excluded from this as we are rescue craft so its ok.
