Well done to scotland.
But let's hope this proves a blessing in disguise for the english rugby
team - lets hope for a rethink of recent team selections!

Definitely - and it can only be a good thing for rugby as a
whole. You don't want a single dominating team - in fact this
years 6 nations has been one of the most open for years. Team
selection for England: Ollie Smith for Tindall (not much of a presence
in midfield today), James Simpson-Daniel for Cohen (too big and
cumbersome - and a North Hants. player ),
and Tom Varndell for Lewsey (too many mistakes today).
So...England outclassed, no grand slam, Scotland reclaim the
Calcutta, Well done Scotland!

Hmm, not convinced on those, I'd keep Lewsey - a couple of mistakes
doesn't make him a bad player. Voyce for Cohen personally, with Abbot
in for Tindall, smith in as well eventually, but not just yet. I'd also
like to see Lund in at 7, or at least sanderson if he's fit, with corry
being dropped (although that won't happen so realistically lund in for
worsley)
|

I dunno - At least start making more changes. You don't want a
situation like with Sven Goran Erikson where he just keeps his "old
faithful". Yeah Lund sounds like a good player - havn't actually
seen that much of him though. I thought Moody played brilliantly
- he just seems to be everywhere and his play in the rucks is just
incredible. There were several occasions today where he made the
tackle, got back to his feet and stole possession - and that's not easy
against an opposition forward pack who were playing out of their skins.

Yes, I do want changes, but only two or three, much as you don't want
sven, you don't want claudio ranieri either otherwise noone'll know
wether they're coming or going.
Agree about moody, he was awesome, I'm keep him in the team but at 6 with worsley (or possibly dallaglio) at 8

I wldnt touch the scotland team well Scott Murray back in but thats it.
It is refreshing to hear English people not making excuses rather admiting Scotland played well.

I watched this and could not believe how many mistakes England made (and then Scotland capitalised on to their credit).
I'm just wondering why Matt Dawson is still not in the starting line up - when he came on for Blood I really started to think England could turn it around. But when he came back on for good, I think the match was already lost really.
Scotland were the better side on the day and deserved to win.

AND STILL TOP OF THE 6 NATIONS TABLE!!!!
So Scotland - you won a match. But the fact you
feel the need to rub it in and celebrate so much is just a reflection
on how rarely you do win.

Well played scotland. The Scottish played out there skins, and the English had a shocker. You deserved to win. Anyway, we've won the Calcutta for the past 5yrs, its probably your turn.

I guess we can't win 'em all but we are still the World Champions and did give you the game on a plate - all those errors ...

the team that lost to scotland last weekend arent realy the world champs though are they? i mean theres no jason robinson or martin johnson and i think mike catts not there any more either (i think) and jhonny wilkinson is constantly injured so its not realy the same team. but all credit to scotland and ireland deserved that win, at the end of the 1st 20 i thought they were in for a pasting but wales fell apart.

Its nowhere near pre-world cup levels, sorry. We've yet to find an
adequate replacement for Hill or Greenwood. Plus our choices at 9 are
far more limited than they were in 2003.

You are JOKING! Are you seriously trying to say that English sport commentators should be unbiased and fair-play? For the rest of the world, Scotland won the match; for England, well.... err....... England didn't quite win it... but it's a moral victory. Let's face it: England beaten by Scotland would be almost as horrific as being beaten by France!
Yeah yeah, it's the next match - whatever the result, French residents in England are on the losing side anyway. If France wins, English supporters have a go, sometimes in a rather aggressive language. If England wins, it's a long and tiresome repetition of haha-in-your-face gloating. One thing I want to say before the next match: it wasn't me, I wasn't there at the time, I don't follow/watch/play rugby and all team sports make me cringe. Whatever the result, leave me out of it, thnx.
