Would anyone be interested in bringing a class libel action against ITV?Smile

As a sailor I feel that the portrayal of people who charter yachts in last nights Holiday Showdown was utterly slanderous.

Yachties are not generally boring, self righteous, stuck up p****; who can’t handle their drink, see Captain Bligh a role model and do not understand the “rules of the road”.

Although I did find it funny when the “Skipper” told everyone their was only one captain one minute and then tore a strip of his 10 year old son for not being decisive the next.

I think you may be over reacting slightly

He said it...
Did you really feel so put out by the portrayal of people who go on yachting holidays as boring old farts on some reality TV show last night that you felt the need to write that??  But i do genuinly hope you don't lose sleep over it but i don't think you'd get very far if you sued for emotional damages!

May I suggest that before you go into a court of law....you learn which "there" goes where.....and that you tear a strip "off"...not of.....

Otherwise they might not take you seriously......

yer i think u are over reaking just a little bit.   it was quite funny when the skippers son said there is a boat coming towards us and the skipper said were and then saw it at the last minute and blamed it on his son that they had nearly hit another yacht.   by the way maybe you should go sailing more often instead of watching  on tv.

If you feel so much about such a programme write a letter to the Broadcasting complaints Commission or OFCOM.
Personally I think the E4 show where stunt men try to 'cheat' death warrants more of a complaint.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

That applies to a quite a few on this site

Am I the only one who noticed the smile in Coolhands post or are you all being very clever and ironic?

Afraid you could only bring an action in defamation of a class if you could prove that it relates to you specifically rather than just to your sport.  Sorry for being so serious but I'm a lawyer, it comes naturally!
