Andrew, You asked in the letters page (to paraphrase) "why does the Anno does not spin quicker in cold air?". Simply the Anno measures the speed of the wind (constant with varying pressure), not the "power" of the wind. I assume this was a Joke letter. ------------- Wanna learn to Ski - PM me.. |

The idea of the anenometer is that the cups travel at the same speed as the wind, rather than measuring pressure. |

When you're sailing in a cold northerly the wind isn't going any faster it's just that because its denser it feels like what wind there is is more powerful i.e a gust could knock you over far quicker than the same wind strength gust in the summer.
