If I don't get made redundant in June I shall almost certainly start on a "new rules" International Canoe. Knowing the rate at which I finish boat building projects it won't be sailing for 18 months from now though!

What are the rule changes, will new hulls look significantly different?

Its not a new boat but my cherub Comfortably Numb should be hitting the water this season after many years underuse, a couple of years in a field and now a significant makeover.

Atum Bom should be ready in time for Sailboat too and belongs to an occasional forum user

Slightly strange question though, why do you ask?

I am planning (but subject to dosh which is very tight at the moment) a new single hander.  Details are:

18 feet long

10 feet wide with T Foil rudders

9.5M mast (ish)

Approx 14.25sqm mainsail

Approx 16sqm Kite

All carbon construction, so target is approx 100KG

It will rate around the same as a Tornado once I've worked out how to sail it.

It's going to be a on-off build by John at stealth marine and is currently called the "stealth 18s".  But this will probably change.

Just need to find the cash first!

So if someone buy's my Inter 17, I'll just have to build it

I'm involved in two projects this year which are both linked.

The 1st is a hydrofoiling Stealth F16. John has kindly built us a one-off F16 with daggerboard slots moved further forward to get better balance when up on the foils. The hydrofoils are now complete with hyraulic MTB cables linking the wands to the foils, we are however still working on the rudders and rudder stocks. The aim is to try and investigate the potential performance benfits of foils on cats, with a view to putting them on a C-class. The problem is project 2 is taking priority.

Project 2. is a new wing for the C-class cat Invictus. Following our poor showing at the C-class champs in 2004 we have repaired the hulls, and work is well underway on a Cogito style wing, with slotted flap. If all goes well we will be chucking it on the water in time for some of the big cat events in the summer, or at worst Grafham Cat Grand Prix in October !

Its only a proposal at this stage. Basically the proposal is to reduce the min weight a bit and to return the IC to the box rule that was used before 1970 something when they changed to one design hulls.

Since the current canoe shape was designed there have been changes in what the typical dinghy looks like - generally finer bows and the waterplane further back, and the smart money is that a new Canoe shape wouild reflect that.

Jim, What is the point of that? Surely a 'proper' canoe will never look at all like a 'typical dinghy' !

I am currently mending my sloop. just before seasons end i had a rather unfortunate encounter with some motorized water bikes and in the mist of things left the situation with a large hole in my stern. needless to say I was a little chapped.
