My Weta came with a single line furler.This was changed to a continuous line furler after jams. I had two KZ furlers which lasted about four years each before becoming stiff and gravelly and now have something without a name - perhaps RWO - which looks like a copy which has also become rough running. I believe Allen have a new one on the market for 300 quid, Barton say they have but nobody has one for sale and Sea Sure have a new one which looks very like the three previous ones. Does anyone know how long this kit is supposed to last and what the current front runner is? The class standard is a Ronstan but I am not a millionaire! Weta 117 Phantom 903 (wood)

Thanks v much. My sail is a screacher and does not have a luff wire but I have not really taken any notice of Allspars before - I'll have a look at what they do. Meanwhile, I have discovered that the new Barton HBT furler is on hold but may be released in June. As a temporary solution I have washed an old KZ furler in fresh water and it is now running a bit better.
