Just having a random thought.

N12 to 12ft Skiff Conversion, would it be possible?

Take a rig & foils off an old I14, reinforce the hull, add a bowsprit with stays, build in a centreboard case?

Are there any N12 designs that would work with this?

Interesting thought experiment.

Well, if you put enough work in... Realistically I think you would have to reduce the boat to an empty shell and put a complete new interior structure in. I don't really know enough about recent N12 design to comment on how suitable the hull shape would be, but I'm reminded of a quote from Paul Bieker about 14s - "everyone said two trapezes would be a cheap way to go faster, then we all got to chuck our hulls." Its kinda hard to imagine that good shapes for such very different tasks would be similar.

Too wide, too heavy.

Maybe one of the 1980s open water downwind speed machines would work, but you'd still need to knock 35kg and 20cm off. I think we can broadly say National 12s are very optimised for displacement sailing, and the most recent designs for t foil rudders so those may be out the window.
