All of those who complete the survey will receive free class membership for 2022. The
Tasar GBR Class Association is running an on-line survey to re-connect with the
many Tasar helms and crews throughout Great Britain. The
Tasar was a designed by Frank Bethwaite and was widely considered to be well
ahead of its time. With its lightweight, fine lined hull and sophisticated rig
it is easily driven to high-performance without the need for trapeze or
spinnaker. The
design concept allows teams of all shapes and sizes to compete with the class
being particularly popular with couples, parent and child combinations and
friends alike. Typical crew weights range from 130 – 150kgs ... and some a
little higher. The
boats are well made, and hulls remain competitive for many years; the recent
GBR National Championships was won by a 22-year-old boat. The

Is there an estimate for the numbers of Tasars sailing in the UK on a relatively regular basis? Where are they sailed mostly? ------------- Feeling sorry for vegans since it became the latest fad to claim you are one |

yes they are still built in the Southern Hemisphere and are imported here: http:// www.tasarsailing.com/buy-a-tasar-link" rel="nofollow - https://www.tasarsailing.com/buy-a-tasar-link There have been a number of UK builders over the years but not at present. Most of the current UK Tasars that are active were built by Rondar and are long lasting ... The boat isn't underrated by those that sail them  It was ahead of it's time and is still an excellent two person hiker and ideal for couples and parent / child combinations. Performance is pretty impressive for a 2 sail hiker too ...
Hard to know as they are well spread around the UK; best estimates are that there have been about 800 Tasars sold into the UK over the years but how many of those are still afloat and/or active is hard to tell. The ones we know about are shown on this map:
