Owner and crew on Crossbow and Crossbow II, outright world sail speed record holders from 1972 to 1986, has died.

Sad, saw it in action at Weymoth in the late seventys, early eighties, these guys. dying breed we'll not seee the like again. RIP

In the 1980s I had a speed sailing Proa (slightly egging the pudding) and I wrote to Sir Tim asking sponsorship. I received a lovely hand written letter declining but wishing me luck, total gent and an inspiration.
