Is it just me, or is sailing missing off the list of sports?

Anyone else use it?

Yeah, I use it...I record it as Running on Suunto watch then after syncing change the activity on Strava to Windsurfing (closest I can find on Strava list) Odd that sailing isn't on there.

I save my sailing as kitesurfing, so I can save actual windsurfing as windsurfing. The difference between the two seems to be that if you save it was windsurfing you get more metrics in knots, whereas kitesurfing randomly give distance in KM but speed in knots on the summary!

Garmin has sailing though and reports it all in knots.

I've just restarted using it now my Apple watch works without having the phone to hand, interesting looking at the monotony of sailing a course with only one tactical option.. Annoying that sailing isn't an option and I have to select which bike I'm using.

I use RaceQs , free app with plenty of options dedicated to sailing.

Thanks, just downloaded it.

Just opened the app, now here's a very dodgy thing, how does it know my boat's called a Fireblade, no such boat exists other than in my little world.

Screenshot that came up immediately on opening I've done nothing, entered no details, how the f**k has it done that?

And given I have three other boats why has it chosen that name?

When you sign up, you have given permission to access everything in your phone and emails, probably looking at you through the camera too. You will soon be getting offers from businesses in your area, they will get a kickback from any you use. Your friends will be bombarded with ads too.

No idea how Fireblade came up for our man but I’ve had it for years now and although they must get something back to sell on I’ve never noticed any thing obvious.

Lets just say I ended up deleting alot of these apps for the reasons you have discovered iGRF and strava is all that remains as imperfect as it is.

I'm pretty computer savvy, happily accept the nuances of modern intrusion, but this one I really find puzzling. There is no Boat Class called Fireblade yet. I can't even find any reference to the name on my computer or phone, have I even talked about it on facebook, don't recall. Only place it is probably dialed in is Sail wave or the race control system we have down the club which name escapes me.

But it's unlikely either system is smart enough to impart that info to an app on a phone wouldn't you think?

Curioser and curioser.

If you have been using your phone or even had it in your hand by your boat, it could have used video or more likely taking snap shots, it will be constantly taking snap shots based on GPS info, will not take shots at same place twice on same day.

One of the most interesting parts of living in Cheltenham is being mates with / married too the kinds of people who really understand what happens in the apps we all use and taking a look at the very few that they allow onto their devices Wink

Nope first time I'd even heard of it here and now in this thread.
