Wow
What a story this is !
A real ray of sunshine in the gloomy days we live in
How things can change for classes in the blink of an eye ?
Slightly surprising that the article doesn't mention that the Star was dropped for the 1976 games ? This isn't the time for factual inaccuracies
The Star should be ideal as the offshore mixed class for 2024 - in the Med there wont be much wind or waves so the crew wont need a cabin - probably just some sarnies and a flask !If not I'm sure a small cabin could be formed fairly easily
Hopefully more of these little known clauses will be discovered and some more proper boats reinstated
Cant wait to see these boats next summer

Yes - 2021 will be amazing and 2024 even better
I've been in a very low place over recent events but this story has given me a huge boost
Life looks good again as he digs out all his Star racing videos !!!!!!

stand by for the follow up announcement that the 470 will be replaced by the Firefly, making its comeback from when Elvstrom won his first gold in Torbay 1948. Seems they’ve looked at the costs on this one and finally worked out a 470 is very expensive and a hull only lasts for a few months whereas ancient Fireflies can remain competitive. If only they’d combine this initiative with the introduction of team racing, but one thing at a time I guess

Great news! But personally I think that re- introducing wooden masts and cotton sails for such an important event may be going too far

Who told you! The NFA were keeping this quiet until World Sailing made the announcement.

It's a mistake. They found out that some guy sailed a Finn from South America halfway across the Pacific, so what they are actually going to do is to race the two-handed offshore event in Finns.

I love (!) the idea of Ovingtons being forced to lower their quality and control standards to avoid a large increase in build quality in comparison to recently produced hulls

Just sad it was about 30 mins ago I thought it would have been amusing to add a massive reduction to the PY over the builder change in this thread - as an April fools and to wind up the PY moaners!
