probabley use something like a 2000 or something. Also i think that top gear/ boat show has already combined as James May was presenting the show on TV and last year it was richard hammond presenting it

I went yesterday it was very good and I picked up a fantastic amount of freebees .
Advice for those who are going, the cheepest food we found was in the RYA members lounge. They didn't even bother asking my group if we were members (none of us are sure if we are anyway)

Did anyone else think the Boat Show on TV was a bit, well, crap?
They started off saying that they would be focussing on how to start sailing if yo are new to the sport, but (powerboats aside) the cheapest sailing boat they featured was £180k, no dinghies apart from Philippa Forrester doing lengths of the pool in a Pico while making lots of little squealing noises.
They mentioned the Olympics but where were the shots of our team in action?
Plus at one point I thought I was watching Ready Steady Cook!

na the boat show was good today its never usally great mainly because of all the boring big boats.
big thatnks to sailor girl, hurricane and ben for saving me from looking round the non sailing related stands with my mum. was nice meeting you all.
the 49er racing was good when they got the wind in between the buildings. the team from bough beach won (allgoodfun.com boat) shows that sailing on a lake is an advantage sometimes.

At one stage today the leading 49ers was beating and the next boat 2-3 boat lengths behind was flying his genniker on the opposite tack.
A lot of respect to the teams for putting on the show in far from ideal wind conditions.
Thanks
Ian

Got my money's worth out of my ticket, didn't leave till 7! I've got
some photos from the show - I've got some of the new osprey cos I
thought some people may want them! - but haven't got them off my dad's
camera yet. I've got some shots of the 49ers as well, I'll agree that
Royal Vic dock's horrible to sail on, it's even worse further up! I've
raced on there before and the home team often used a windward mark that
could only be reached on one tack due to the wind shadows. Often gave
them an advantage in the first race..
I'll try and get some photos up tomorrow and was nice meeting everyone I did!

Thanks for the pictures. I've been to Bough Beech today and found out that Richard Bone and Chris Rodway on All-Good-Fun won all 3 races in the Sunsail 49er Regatta at the Boat Show. Well done fellas - Bough Beech sailors certainly know how to sail in the shifty stuff.

lol I was working there some of the time but I went on Fri thurs eve and sat when I wasnt working - oh the advantages of an exhibitor pass.
It meant I could have interview with out having to pay for a ticket to get in first and the volounteering at the show put me in good stead to go sailing more.
