A sail in the Solent looks an exciting sail of a lifetime. Past the Needles? reserved for sailing superheroes ( and crazy people!)

Awesome, but It would be interesting to see next 5 seconds, just after it buries the bow.

Would you be wanting to try that somewhere south of the Horn, with a big sea running?

Still nothing compared to trying to bear away round a mark really near the bank in a big breeze in a Lightning with a Needlespar mast!

I was thinking the same, but I guess the theory is that it is *just* big (very big) rollers, not a short or breaking sea. Also, given that the previous generation were running at or above the speed of the weather systems / waves, this beast will be overtaking everything.

The challenge may be to stay in the weather system(s). Or, are they into apparent wind territory now so the weather ceases to matter as much?
