Are they mad? to be able to keep that rig upright in even a moderate breeze you'l need to be reasonably big and a topper doesn't exactly deal with size well

6.8 sqm is not huge, not everyone sails on windy days on the sea.
But it looks like a similar concept to the Mk2 Laser sail, not much roach, lots of luff round, so a sail which can only work with loads of kicker and no twist. So not a versatile sail which will be nice in light air?

Just a prototype, I hope, but tons of kicker does seem to be fashionable in Laser/Topper circles.

It depends why they are putting a 'big' rig on the boat. Light airs performance is a valid reason (and it will improve that a little) but if they hope to increase the weight range they are doomed to failure.
