Not reinstated, anyway. A great shame, but I suspect that the cost compared to the number of countries with competitors doesn't work out, yet. Trouble is, with what is being put in place now, with the Hansa 303 bringing reasonable value to the sport, by 2024 it could well be.

Maybe sailing should be the first sport to introduce an event to the main games where people with disabilities can compete on equal terms.

Seen the hiking they do on a Star?

Maybe the RS Venture connect, where a sailor with a disability helms from the seat, and the other sailor does the jib, spinnaker and sitting out.

Wow, 1 to 8 sailors, never come across this model, (would be good for push the boat out LOL).
This would connect all the Olympic dots, Male, Female and disabled Male or Female could all sail same boat.

We've been using a double seat version for a couple of years. It works well, but has drawbacks. With several people on board, especially if bring steered from the back, the cockpit starts to flood, and it tends to make a lot of leeway at slow speeds, making landing interesting occasionally. However, it's ability to get people with a huge range of disabilities sailing in one package is unsurpassed.

With sailing dropped from the Paralympics, how long before sailing is out of the main games, too?

Kicking sailing out would mean one less venue to build and secure. What messages have the sport's elite prepared against that eventuality and the likely loss of funding for sailing programmes as a result?
