A position has become available in the UK for someone to join the worldwide network of Weta dealers.

• The Weta is a New Zealand One Design trimaran designed in 2004 by a team of talented dinghy sailors. It is manufactured in Indonesia by Xtreme Sailing Products who have 20+ years’ experience building quality sailboats.

• The Weta trimaran is the most versatile sailing dinghy on the market with a proven record of quality, performance, simplicity, stability and lightness. It is a unique multihull in the way it easily dismantles to the footprint of a monohull. It is also priced competitively.

• There are 29 Weta dealers worldwide with over 1200 boats manufactured with 50 in the UK.

• Many Weta are family boats but the Weta was also selected by World Sailing for the 2017 Masters Games for quality international racing.

• Regular Weta regattas are held in UK, France, Sweden, USA, Australia and New Zealand.

If you are a passionate sailor and would like to further expand the Weta fleet in the UK then you would find joining the Weta team very rewarding.

It is always a pleasure to market a quality boat that is a delight to sail. You would have the support of an established owner’s association and a manufacturer who backs their product.

You can have the slogan I use at events in Australia: "Like sailing? Only Weta!"

Or there's the original one: "Fun. Fast. Easy."

And a tagline: "Weta Trimaran - The boat everyone can sail."

Errr. A Weta is NOT a catamaran it’s a Trimaran that tacks like a monohull and sails like a skiff with stabilisers.

Correct product identification is part of the dealer application process

precisely - which means it's not allowed at a number of the SCHRS events, and the clientele at any half decent monohull regatta would give you some right funny looks.....  you might find a better welcome at The Slaughtered Lamb.

LOLLOLLOL you need both, and a bun, a stick, a bunch of eager Boy Scouts and some tomato ketchup to mask the burnt bits!

can't we just assume the (b**tard RYA) conspirators are already busy ensuring that:

a) it doesn't have one
or b) it has a ridiculously high one just to despite Grumpf

I did note somewhere that apparently there are 50 of them in the UK.... now if they all came together and called it a nationals, we could safely assuming it's far more popular than a Fireball.

I saw one of these sailing some weeks back.
In a fairly stiff breeze and plenty of chop, it looked quite fun.
Unfortunately, no other boats out to gauge it against.

Not my experience - we've taken part in many events which are open to multihulls of all type - many that have a NOR stating "off-the beach catamarans" or "off the beach dinghies" have welcomed the Weta fleet.

Sure if it's a monohull-only event than cats can't take part either but if cats are allowed then usually tris are allowed too - especially if we can make up a class.

The only problem is when handicappers try to apply the SCHRS rating to a Weta and it doesn't work - fortunately there are now fairly accurate handicap ratings in most regions and because the Weta has more in common with a monohull in terms of the way it handles, some clubs race the Wetas with the mono fleet.

The PN is 950 in the UK

Here's a video of my race in the mixed fleet in Sydney. In anything above about about 15 knots, we're usually mixing it up with the Flying Dutchman and B14s although in this race the B14 started 5 mins earlier and I was catching them up. The Weta planes upwind around 12 Knots and can go over 20 knots downwind.

Barber haulers for the kite but no kicker for the main seems an odd combo?

Anything which has a PY of 950 when it allegedly planes upwind at 12 knots doesn't have a great future as a machine to race against monohull dinghies.
The Weta does not have a PY.
I can see it appeals to some people, but not for racing against fundamentally different craft.

Is a foiling moth or a Int’l. Canoe a “fundamentally different craft” too so should they be excluded from mixed fleets?

The whole point of handicap racing is that you have some boats which excel in different conditions which makes it interesting, I’d suggest.

A foiling moth will beat nearly everything on the water but it’s fun to go past them when the wind is really light and they can’t get airborne. In light winds you can use the Weta gennaker as a “code zero” fairly effectively - it won’t point much but you can keep moving and the new Square top sail helps too.

The “barber haulers” are a bit of bungee to keep the kite sheets flat on the tramp so you don’t catch them with the tiller extension.

And how would you have a kicker on a sail with no boom?

Still looking apparently - too many tyre kickers
