Where is the sound system? I'm sure they must make waterproof systems to make the water shake. Might interfere with the spinnaker trimming though...

attach up some waterproof speakers into the wings of a 49er would be funny

I was thinking the kite bins on the 12 would make for quite good sub enclosures but then I hit upon the problem of where to put 50sqm of cloth on the trip upwind

I've considered fitting a head unit, amp, sub and speakers to a boat, but concluded it wud be weigh to heavy.

I seem to remember a long lost magazine photograph of a thoroughly pimped Mirror (of all things), which had been rigged with a bowsprit (old boom, lashed to mast and forestay attachment) as well as a mizzen (another old boom, this time lashed to the transom and that slot in the skeg).  It carried an extra jib in front of the normal one, as well as a flying jib (attached halfway up the gaff) and yet another sail attached to the mizzen, although I can't remember what was used for a mizzen boom.  So, it had 5 working sails ...  Being a Mirror, I think it was unlikely that it now went any faster or slower!

at a sailing center that i worked at. they got a taz and put a topper rig on it with  another topper mast for a bowsprit with three jibs on it.  they got it so that all of the jibs taked together but there was so much force on the pole that you had to let the jib off to stop it breaking with every gust.  good speed tho

At my scouts we see how much sail we can fit on our boats using oars to extend the mast, as a bowsprit, and then sometimes we fit it with a trapeze.

Can a 3k mast actually support a second wire? Suprised it didnt snap, with another wire and a 400 kite on it

Trying to steer back towards the original topic, have you got your kite back, carshalton? I wonder if the guy did some creative stitching in the repairs... A friend of mine kept doing that on her favourite sweatshirt: each time there was a hole, she's repair it with a little embroidered flower. Cute results  That treatment could give a whole new effect to your kite... Or was the rip so big you'd need the embroidery of a giant redwood ?
