I missed the announcement that Ian Walker has become RYA director of Racing. The interview on the main site

http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/197278/Ian-Walker-Interview

suggests to me that he will be very engaged with the grass roots stuff. Fingers crossed.

Nice article, thanks Mark!

My contact with the RYA has all been dinghy related and I am afraid that to date they appear to be dictating from above and not really engaging with or listening to the volunteers who are the backbone of most sailing clubs. Hopefully that will change, as you say Rupert fingers crossed.

Joshua,
Have you not had any contact with your local RYA rep ?

I am not aware of any significant contact, but others at the club may have been contacted. I am sure that some of the responsibility lies with the club to contact the RYA to ask for help.
