As I was eating a Pizza while looking at the "best OD dinghy ever" thread on the dinghy section, it occurred to me that the best pizza ever would be far more interesting. Of course, as well as the pizza itself, what would matter is the location it was eaten, the wine/beer it was drunk with and the company it was eaten in.
My favourite (of this moment, of course!) is one I ate looking out over a pretty lake in the centre of Brittany, while drinking Breton cider by the bucket. The pizza was large, thin and tasty, with lots of nice cheeses melted on it. Good lunch, followed by a bit of a wobbly walk home!
Of course, had I been to Italy, my choice could have been different!

Does a large thin and tasty pizza constitute one design of pizza or is it a rule on which pizzas are developed.... in which case it doesn't qualify.
My choice of a single manufacturer one make pizza from Tescos is much more uniform, garenteeing equal pizzas every purchase.... and thus, superior.

But that doesn't allow pizza development in line with new technologies, so keeping the pizza up to date and able to be eaten right up to its sell by date. After all, Iceland might bring out a thermoplastic one (actually, judging by the one I had for lunch, they already have) which makes the tesco one seem outdated.
Wish I'd been able to have some best Pizza beer with it, actually, but have to drive to collect kids...maybe that was why I was dreaming of the wobbly walk home...

Any other pizzas, or any future other pizzas, are all inferior to my one make pizza...... I will not tolerate anyone on this forum claiming that any pizza, other than my own choice, is the best.
The best thing about my pizza choice is, the cheese..... its just so modern in design and approach.... its rubbery consistancy and flat tasteless taste will never be superseeded.....NEVER

I had thought of that before....and Id love to try it, but our rules strictly prohibit the use of sauce, or any flavour enhancement condument. The manufacturers tell us that possibly soon, they will bring out their own brand sauce, which will be legal, but all other brands will be illegal - and this one will only be approved if it does not give none sauce users a taste disadvantage.

I'd just like to make it clear, to anyone who is trying to use this forum to negatively represent our one design of pizza, that if you have any commercial interest in slateing us, then please mention it, as we feel negative marketing is the most disgusting plague to hit the formerly reputable and well respected British marketing industry.

Totally off subject - another example of why we need Thought police moderators
My favourite pizza was eaten outdoors in Port Camargue, France. A salmon and seafood thin pizza with spicy olive oil drizzled on top. Several cool beers and possibly the most wonderful waitress ever.

But my pizza is, while being truely fair, due to the patented equal cheese distribution system, also the most exciting, because the crust (which is the bit we all enjoy the most) is asymetrical, making it easier for a novice chew, and to then launch after too many beers.

So my SMOD pizza is infact "a flat bread product with all the performance of a pizza but none of the vices"? But infact is found to be lacking in taste compared to the real thing?

The best pizza must have:
- Artichoke
- Anchovies
- Olives
- Mozzarella
- Freshly made dough
- Passata
- Black pepper
- Shallots
The best pizza must NOT be:
- Deep pan
- Best cooked from frozen
- Buy one, get one free
This, of course, must be correct since I am the thought police!

The hot and spicy creation from Asda on a stone bake base, with extra roasted onions. It is called family size, but is only really big enough for one sailor. It costs £2-98.
Now for the clever bit. When you approach the counter to have this cullinary delight built, wait until the fat bird with NO WEDDING RING is ready to serve you. Being a biffa she will automatically put on loads of extra toppings. She is not married so has no idea of how to please a man. She still thinks that the way to a mans heart is through his stomach ( little does she know she is aiming a bit too high), and since you have just smiled at her she thinks you care, and piles on more toppings.
The best lager to drink with it is what ever one is on offer at the time.
Oh and even though you are in Asda, when that yummy mummy in front of you at the checkout sticks her change into the back pocket of her too tight jeans, resist the urge to give it a pat.

Good effort by the boy Jardine, but once again, resident lifestyle guru BWD nails it in one.

Im sorry for continuing this lame parody of a former thread, but Im bored, and nobody else is on line so........
In response to Jardines puctual attempt at defining one design of pizza by a series of arbitary rules, which over time can be modified, corrupted, and used to encorporate any number of pizza developments, I can only point out just how far from the ideal vision of a one pizza, fair and equal for all for ever, this is. Further, any wish to deviate from a single manufacturer concept breaches the standard, by which I stand (and will stake my reputaion), of fair pizza chewing (and helping).
As for Mr BWDave's bold assertion that a single manufacturer can, or should, manufacture variations into their, suposedly, one make pizzas is a sad tale, for all us SMOD pizza lovers everywhere. His reference to their comercial, speaks volumes about the strength of force, marketing can have on the swayable pizza market, and also, dare I say, on the degree of attention the company in question pays to its marketing rather than the uniformity of their pizzas. It is for this reason alone, that I, and my fellow competitors, chews not to endorse their pizza.

Ah but you can have it built to your own design, weight of topping, thickness of base etc. Much better than having all the raw materials in your own workshop and the associated waste management problems. I like to think of them as custom builders.
They do also provide SMOD pizzas but they are boring, and made for the masses who are new to this food type, or indeed do not want the hassle of having to work out what tastes best. The SMOD product may suit many but it is not as finely tuned as the custom built option.
ASDA IS THE KING OF PIZZA BUILDERS.

Face it Dave, Asda is an old mans pizza.... symmetrical, overweight, uncompetitive against newer designs, unfair to the chews, only easy to chew if you have light wind and most untrendy.

No No No, it is constantly evolving to keep pace with modern times. Ever improving and always satisfying. It has an air of traditional design about it with plenty of updated mods to satisfy even the most critical of pizza fans.

I like the Margharita pizza you get in Pizza Express best
I've never shopped for pizza at ASDA, in fact, I've never shopped in there before. I agree, Pizza Hut is yucky.

mmm pizza hut. All you can eat for £5! that's brilliant, I always go there for my lunch with mates. Can usually eat about 14 slices of pizza on a good day (with pasta salad and bread).

All you can eat for £5? If was quality, then why give it away? Especially if its customers can eat 14 slices per visit.

Apparentely in Garda, there is a pizza shop which will sell you a pizza which will fill a plate and in like just coverered in mound upon mound of cheese. Sounds good after the intense 25knot sailing.!!

Any pizza sold on the shores of Garda after a full days sailing in the ora is the best ... washed down with a few Peronis as you soak up the evening sun recounting the final run at warp factor 3 ...
