On what feels like an annual look around for a LJ that will see me through from now until September.

I have a NP Elite Firewire LJ for when it's colder, but have struggled with lighter weight LJs.

I have tried the Gill LJ (now marketed as the Speedskin LJ), but always got very cold in it once dunked.  Great in the summer though.

I've also tried the earlier version of the Zhik Microfleece, which I find really comfortable and much warmer than the Gill LJ, but the Zhiktex reinforcing on the knees has started to go after less than a season's use.

So now looking at other options.  I'm ruling out the newer Microfleece on cost & longevity grounds unless someone can assure me the Zhiktex II material on the newer microfleeces is bullet proof.

The Ronstan skiffsuits seem to have a good reputation on here, so thinking they might be worth a try, although I'm struggling to find anybody who stocks them, so ordering from Ronstan online may be the only option.

Also slightly concerned about their sizing.  I'm only a 39" chest, but the ravages of time mean I'm a 36" waist.  I normally try and squeeze into mediums to ensure the wetsuit isn't bagging on the chest, but the Ronstan seems to have a narrower waist measurement (M is 30-32") than their competitors.

Would I be better going for a large in the skiffsuit or looking elsewhere?

Any recommendations?

Could be a good shout, although not sure about the longevity of the smoothskin torso panel.

Will need to try one on if I can find a local stockist.  I've historically been too big for a medium and too small for a large with Gul kit.  It took me over 10 minutes to get out of one of their medium neoprene tops in a changing room once!!

doubt it'll get that much snagging once you put a bin bag spray top and a bob-a-job floaty coaty over the top.

It's one of the few sailing brands which seems to understand decent grade neoprene and for a little over a hundred quid, it'd be a good investment even if only for two seasons use.

I likey.

I really rate some of their kit.  My bipoly and waterblocker tops are my goto kit. Wasn't so keen on their metalite shorts.

I note they have just released a 1.5mm part metalite version of their Ultimate LJ, which might be worth considering or RS still have the previous 2mm non-metalite version in stock.

How's the sizing?  Does it come up big or small.  My chest needs a medium, my waist is XXL according to the Ronstan size charts.  Time for a diet!!

I have several ronstan skiff suits, and they are the best wetsuit I have ever owned.

I'm 6'2" with a 34" waist but a fairly narrow weedy chest but they fit like a glove. Mine are L.

I can't recommend them highly enough.

That's a +1 from my on Ronstan Skiff Suits. I'm on my third LJ now. Really tough, flexi knees and shoulders, no velcro on the shoulders to rub, padded back of the thigh. I saw one on sale just after I bought the last one so bought it 'for stock'... just broken it out after 3 years. Now looking for a deal in one in time for 2020!

I'm nearly 6' and 90+kgEmbarrassed. Large would be just a little snug for me to grow any more.
