Not so dim that I cannot see the spectacle value  but fail to see the logic in the wording of the promo. Am I the only person bored by class tribalism?

"Battle of the Classes
This Sunday’s pursuit race, where various Dinghy Class Associations will Battle it out in front of the Southampton Boat Show crowds to find the best, is all set to be a classic event. With a record entry for the Southampton Boat Show of 41 boats across a wide cross section of Dinghy classes and types, and many Champions competing, it is likely to be a close Battle."

I believe most classes are only sending boats where people have indicated they are willing to attend.

No class tribalism here, things have moved on.

Excellent Jeffers, good on yer. I can see it as a showcase event and in theory the best sailors should and probably will come out on top but "the best class" ? No basis or reason for class bragging.
Got that of my chest, now going sailing. Smile

Nothing wrong with a bit of friendly rivalry, surely?

It went a little beyond that in the early days between 2 single handed classes.

Things are much more cordial these days....

How true and this forum has certainly mellowed since then!  Having owned one of those classes I used to log on every few hours to view the carnage.

Great Shame the FINN/ Europe report shows the reults but with Helms surnames only.
How old public school is that! Rowen Atkinson would have had a field day.
I dont think this website or the magazine should accept reports like that.

It is info off the tracker, so put in to show how they did. Is there an official report anywhere? That I would expect to have full names.

I thought it was a great report, thanks Emma!

I think it's great that people give up their time to contribute reports so we can keep in touch with the different events going on.

It said "Results according to tracker, 90 minutes post datum". Possibly this was a clue that it wasn't produced by a wannabe schoolmaster.

Have you contributed anything worth reading recently?

I did the report for the Phantom Open at Frensham earlier this year.
probably not worth reading but I got the helms names in full.
Always had both names in reports when I sailed 505 and FD as crew.
Sorry its a shame no other report with the full names has turned up as yet.
I agree with your comment about somebody having to do the report and from a singlehanders point of view only the helms matters!
Still stick with my comment about both names should appear or dont publish for two man boats.

The eagerly awaited official Battle of Classes report will hit the streets later today,  complete with full names,  crew and club details etc

It was great to see the Europe and Finn report from their respective Class perspectives.  I have also seen a few similar social media postings from other classes,  telling their own stories.

As already mentioned the Europe and Finn report used data from the SailRacer tracking,  where we deliberately keep the labels short
