I have noticed that a few moth sailors are now moving onto a cranked or bent booms. Thinking along the lines of marginal gains and the possible spin offs to my own boat ( Int Canoe) can I be advised of the advantages of using one. I am thinking along the lines of more headroom, longer luff length, better angle for the kicker etc, but please experts your advice and understanding.

Finally, what sort of purchases are you guy's using on your kicker and cunningham to set the sail up so rigid?

More headroom 9 degree bend with a conventional height rig.
More headroom 15 degree bend with a lowered stump/ lower height rig.
The kicker angle is shallower ( worse angle ) but struts used to make the angle at the boom steeper. I'm going to do a strut attached at the gooseneck to take load off the boom. ( instead of 1/2 way to the kicker take off )
Purchase is minimum 32:1 kicker, 16:1 downhaul, more would be better.
