Afternoon all.

Can anyone tell me how much dyneema I need to buy for the jib sheet on a 420.  Its missing.  Is 8mm enough or do I need 10mm?

Go to pinbax.com and hit the Fleet button on right hand side of page. Go to 420 and you will find that they offer made up tapered jib sheets. Alternatively give them a call and ask the question.

6mm is more than adequate if you want to be kind to the crew. Usually theń tapered down to 3.5 mm.

You're welcome. A further thought - in Merlin's and many other classes the fashion these days is to have one jib sheet with both ends attached to the jib clew and then run back through each jib cleat and across the centre of the boat - easier to do than describe. Just think of the old style of two separate jib sheets knotted together in the centre of the boat.

This method allows the crew to easily pick up the leeward jib sheet when hiking out to windward and saves having to move across the boat when their weight needs to be out to windward.

Thank you.  That makes perfect sense.   Means you are not chasing loose ends around the boat.
