Quick question..
A pal has a foam sandwich dinghy.. the gellcoat has crackes slightly on the deck and if you squeeze/press it, droplets of water form along the crack.
In your esteemed opinion, is the boat knackered?

Depends if it is localised and the age/condition of the rest of te boat. Equally the gelcoat alone could be lifting locally which is a small repair. if the foam core is crushed then its a bigger job, but worth doing if the rest of the boat is OK

Yeah, like Dan says. If it's just gel coat no big deal. However if the underlying fibres are damaged and the water is from the core it's more serious. But this stuff is very repairable. Even cutting out a section of core and replacing is no big deal really unless you want a like new gelcoat finish.
What's the boat?

On the face of it sounds cosmetic. What class is it? How old is the boat?

A "like new" gelcoat finish is also very possible - PM me for details
