Anyone out there ever sailed at Heeg ?   Our wayfarer 'world' championships are being held there next year, but it looks like a fairly small lake that does not appeal to me. Your personal experiences would be welcome.

Personally I've always had great experiences when travelling to regattas in the Netherlands. Friendly people, great organization and a chance to meet new faces. I've not sailed in Heeg but pretty much every sailing area, including Medemblik and the Ijselmeer, is "inland", shallow and quirky. Nothing wrong with that - I'd be thinking of the socials and the organization as much as the sailing conditions when making my decision.

Gotta love the Dutch, see them annually, always a pleasure and their foodstuffs are brilliant, try everything.

Heeg is fine.  More than large enough for good (Wayfarer) racing and I don't recall depth being an issue at all. The odd bit of bank was a bit tree lined, but the others are clear so winds are in general good - certainly way better those off the flats on St Mary's Is. ;-)

Holland - actually Friesland in this case - is always a joy to visit.
