There is a 'bar' but I will let someone more knowledgeable inform you of the details.

If you're going for an open meeting they will warn you.

Inside the harbour you'll either be sailing in ridiculously strong tide or run aground. Most people new to the place do both.
Outside the harbour you have the notorious bar which has totalled many a boat.
