As I gazed amongst the hue of my laptop screen this morning, I have noticed what a beautiful day it is again.  Whilst not wanting to tempt fate, it reminds me of how wonderful the summer is.

This weekend we were spoilt by Emsworth Slipper sailing club (what a fantastic place) with 17-20knts and blazing sun.  I think everyone came off the water with a massive grin, even me who had a nasty gash from a port/starboard incident.  Really was champaign sailing and a proper way to start a summer of open meetings.  Its really got my sailing juices flowing again.  So I thought i would ask, what are other people planning on doing this summer?

For me, I have a full sailing calender.  With Nationals, opens and the Lord Birkett.  Coupled with some long distance MTB rides and a few sportives chucked in to boot.  I cant bloody wait!!!!!

Well work's gone ballistic, which I'm not complaining about, but it has already taken a chunk of summer sailing time out- firstly by forcing me to rearrange a boat collection on Monday, secondly by taking a good few Wednesday afternoons far enough away that I couldn't get back in time anyway... starting with the next two weeks.

On a more positive front, a large project based in Cornwall might be coming into a new phase in June.... the timing is great as there was little incentive to load up the roof when we working there in the depths of winter and GMT.  And secondly my new windsurf race sail arrived this week.... just in time to go along tonight and see how well I can do standing up against those sitting down.

But please, no accusations of Grumpfism.  I don't expect any claims of superiority by tomorrow morning- just getting around a course will be a miracle, and worrying about how well I did against whatever handicap is applied is rather a moot point when each gybe has a 30% failure risk.

Been spending the week doing the induction week for my new part time job, so plenty of chances to enjoy the weather, as I've joined South Cerney Outdoor as a Sailing Instructor. Week not supposed to end quite as sunny, mind!

Sailfest in May at Calshot, Finn Silver Cup in Valencia for the Yoof, UK Finn Nats at HISC, immediately followed by the French Finn Nats at Quiberon, NSSA Nats for Yoof and Daughter, and possibly L2K Nats at Abersoch, as well as the rest of the Finn circuit.

It's going to be goooooood!
