Admin warning:

Please find out the full facts before hurling abuse at any organisation.

At the moment there are a lot of disgruntled sailors around, but we are not all privy to exactly what went on and why. Once we are aware of exactly what caused this issue to arise, then we can give personal opinions on who is right and who is wrong.

I'm sorry I'm not able to present any more helpful information at the moment; I'm as much in the dark as everyone else.

I'd say Mr Turner seems like an honest chap with little axe to grind, certainly I'd take what he says at face value without needing to question it before agreeing with him....

While I agree with the principle that Chris was fighting for, neither you nor I are aware of any contractual arrangments prohibiting advertising. I hope it got sorted out amicably.

No we're not... But sounds like it was handled badly, and frankly, scores an own goal for their sponsors amongst the demographic they are pimping out.

Absolutely. While the RYA does indeed put a lot of good effort into organising the dinghy show, I'd say their reputation amongst UK dinghy sailors is at an all time low, and they aren't doing a lot to change that at the moment.

The fact Chris felt the need to highlight the issue on social media suggests that the argument had gone on for some time without a sensible resolution which is a sad situation.

I haven't heard any follow up today and no-one has made an issue of it from the show on social media so I thinks its fair to say that someone must have sorted it all out.

Given that any information on this "scandal" seems to be limited to Facebook, might it be safe to assume that it is more of a storm in a teacup, than a scandal?

The Facebook thread (yes, I borrowed someone else's login -- I just *had* to see what this was about, curious me) has people suggesting police action. So there do seem to be some people who have their panties in the proverbial knot.

Maybe we could sell pitchforks at the Ally Pally doors tomorrow ... seems like it might be good business :)

Are you saying they weren't serious? You mean I have all these pitchforks and nobody wants them? I knew it was to good to be true!

I'm sure you could export them some southern US city's Republican Campaign centre.... Maybe tell them they need them to defend themselves against their own government or something

In the rest of the world the left believes that people need to be protected from the US Government, in the US the right that holds that belief, but foreign left and US right would both be mortally offended to be told they agree with each other on a fundamental proposition.

Morning folks...I have had the reasoning explained to me why the logos were asked to be removed...I do understand why this was to happen...It is not the case of the RYA NOT supporting the Andrew Simpson Trust, not at all...And no doubt we shall be discussing this further at the RYA meeting next week I am attending...What I would say, rather than bashing the establishments, do something about it, join and influence where you can...I hope I can contribute which is why I did join and now sit on a Committee...The positives, well the logos were clearly displayed elsewhere and the Trust now have three 29ers to help promote our sport which we will be fully supportive of.
