So, if Dart charge works on number plate recognition, does it check both ends of the vehicle? and will I get charged double for driving around with the wrong number on the trailer?

Ok I get that PCOJ is perverting the course of justice (some may indeed argue that GRF is a shoe in for this but what are C + U regs?????

Construction and use regulations.  If something is fitted , and removed to gain I presume if PCOJ is in it.

You should of course never be driving with the wrong plate on a trailer (or indeed a hand drawn number plate, etc)

Figures that GRF would advocate breaking the law to avoid a charge

Not actually *advocating* breaking the law.

Bloody Dart charge looks like a thorough pain in the neck for an occasional user, especially if you don't altogether trust on line payment security. Its certainly going to affect my route planning. Having *no* on site payment sure looks like a bad case of beancounteritis.

Given the promise that once the build cost was covered, made back in the Thatcher era any attempt to continue to use the tolls as a profit centre should be fought by any means fair or foul in my book.

As I understand it, there are no regs covering how the reg no is displayed on a trailer, just that it must be there and match the towing vehicle. Unlike some of our EU cousins, our trailers are not registered in their own right. (This from an ex met traffic officer)
However, given that roads policing seems to be almost entirely via cameras these days, how are any of these regs to be enforced?

Hi Noah,

There is some useful information about trailers and towing here:
