Morning all,

I'm after some advice on winter longjohns to replace my warmer weather neil pryde hikers. Ive got a rooster supertherm top to wear with it already and I'm unsure how thick to go for reservoir sailing over the winter.   The roster supertherm longjohns are 4mm but pushing my budget at £120, everybody else only seems to go up to 3mm thick although I suppose that's 7mm thick with the supertherm top on too.

Neil pryde and zhik longjohns are definitely out of budget.
Cheers,
Kev

Ronstan skiff suit. Best wetsuits I've ever owned.

I've just gone for the Neil Pryde Firewire LJ (Xmas pressie so not tested yet!), but as that's out of your budget wither the Ronstan skiff suit or the Gul Code Zero are probably your best options.

I was put off the Rooster Supertherm by some of the review comments on their web site, although I believe they may have redesigned it to improve the longevity.  I suspect the Supertherm will be warmer than either of the above though.

I find a Gul Response 2/3mm wetsuit + Rooster Aquafleece is fine for most conditions. I have a 5mm steamer but haven't worn it for 2 years as it's never cold enough. I wear hikers so that's another 3-3 mm on the legs. I've also just got a Gul Profile 0.5mm Thermo top for the extra cold days.
