As ever, the UK is different. it might even have been the 84 LA Olympics that were on when we were on holiday in Spain for our honeymoon and there were bars full of rapt people watching the sailing on national TV. Not quick highlights, but the full real time race. I guess also the abdication of a monarch in favour of his Olympic sailing son also helps in this specific case. Given the recent announcement in our monarchy, and our Americanised hunger for salacious gossip as 'newsworthy items', maybe we should start some grossly fabricated rumours around parentage...  ------------- |
