The question assumes you could get a regular good crew (or helm) and there was competitive both single and double handed classes at your club.

Double - last year in the Alto with my son crewing was the most enjoyable sailing I've had since the early/mid 90's when I was racing a LaserII on the circuit.

Got to be double for me.  I enjoy the sharing of tasks, plus I just end up talking to myself in a singlehander!

I think this is running out of steam. It would have been more meaningful if I had asked people to say if they were sailing singlehanded but would prefer to go two up. Interesting though.

Nevertheless, given the total number of single handed boat races recorded in PY returns vs the number returned for double handers, 80% of a small sample here in favour of double handed suggests that there are a lot of people out there frustrated by having no crew.
