Casio Sea Pathfinder £25 from Argos
Casio Mens Sports Tide + Moon £20 from Argos
They don't leek, the bottons don't foll off and survive the odd wash in the Washing machine. You need to get a velcro strap, £2 from Jonti

Another vote for the Casio Sea Pathfinder is all you'll get from me rather than any other suggestions!

Don't get the Pathfinder, the straps split and they are a dedicated part.
Go for the Illuminator for 20 quid, Argos 251/0921.
Convention fake leather strap which can be replaced with a Velcro job.

yep the straps break....but if you only wear it for sailing it'll last yonks. Almost cheap enough to be considered disposable.

The Casio G-Shock is somewhat tougher and has a programmable timer, it doesn't do a count up after the time has elapsed though, it does a reset instead. No tide indicator but to be honest the tide indicator on the sea pathfinder was pretty useless anyway.

I think one reason I went for the G-Shock was the slightly bigger numerals (if memory serves), I'm getting old and my eyes are not what they were.

Ive had my pathfinder with the same strap for over 5 years (or maybe longer). Plus I have never changed the battery. When it does stop working I will get another one.

What kind of a Scotsman are you?
Did they throw you out?

I've got a drawer full of Pathfinders all working fine but with busted straps, but unlike our extravagant C443 I have just the one watch.
Perhaps my work environment destroys the strap material.

Illuminator is £5 cheaper too, That's at least 1 bottle of Buckfast Abbey.

I might give that a try as my Path finder has misted up on me after a number of years service.

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

I just use something like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Boy-Digital-LED-Quartz-Alarm-Date-Sports-Waterproof-Wrist-Watch-New-/400685330975?pt=UK_Jewelery_Watches_Watches_MensWatches_GL&var=&hash=item5d4ab4f21f" rel="nofollow - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Boy-Digital-LED-Quartz-Alarm-Date-Sports-Waterproof-Wrist-Watch-New-/400685330975?pt=UK_Jewelery_Watches_Watches_MensWatches_GL&var=&hash=item5d4ab4f21f

OK it does not have a count down feature but I can count up to 5 and at that price it is a bargain. Have had my current one for a couple of years with no issues at all.

That looks good.
Is the countdown pre-settable and does it bleep you down like the Casios?

Resin strap again though.
