Hi all, I can't see a newbie section so let me introduce myself here.
I'm Jon, I live in Suffolk, just bought a dinghy & intend to sail it initial at Alton Water until I get to grips with it & remember how to sail.
It's a Schakel which looks like this:

and this:

I rigged it for the first time this week & all looks pretty much in order but the Gooseneck is bent & damaged (Probably useable but I thought while I'm tinkering I might as well replace it - my question is where from?
It l;oops like this:

Thanks in advance and apologies if this is posted in the wrong place. Jon

Novice sailor, got my RYA day-boat in the 70's & haven't sailed since! I own a Schakel dinghy made in Amsterdam at about the same time.

I really must learn to check my typing before posting.

Never seen one like that in the UK...
I fear you'll have to go nearer its home to find one.

Please bring your Schakel to our cvrda meeting in May!  I would love to see it!  We are just up the road near St Ives.

In terms of the gooseneck, probably best to try replacing the sticky out bit with the nearest modern section, or look for something same age on eBay.

Come to the cvrda form cvrda.org for better informed advice!

The Dutch version of eBay is Marktplaats and a dinghy is zeilboot. so in the search box put "schakel zeilboot"
There are lots on there - and nearly all Dutch speak faultless English.

It dosn't look too trashed to me from the pics....but of course there might be other broken bits not shown.... Can you not straighten out the bent bit, or take it to someone who can like a toolmaker or friendly engineer??
