I can't believe it's only a week away and we don't have a thread on whose going, whose doing what, where and at what time..
I shall be up Sat morning as usual and will be bothering the new single hander stands as well as the usual suspects.. I shall go and test myself on the 505 stand to see if I know what anymore of the ropes do than I did last year, then ditto on the Merlin stand since I shall probably be accompanied by at least one of the Bandito's, I'll go for a quick 'be ignored' on the IC stand, sign up for my class membership on the Alto stand, then see if I can visit the RS and Suntouched stands without committing myself to huge expense, that's going to be tough. ------------- https://www.corekite.co.uk/snow-accessories-11-c.asp" rel="nofollow - Snow Equipment Deals https://www.corekite.co.uk" rel="nofollow - New Core Kite website |

Grf, pop along and say hi. You're ok, no wood or aluminium on display, only frp and carbon  . Though there may be some wood botherers manning the stand on Saturday

I shall visit both the British Moth and the Lightning stand, in my quest for total lake domination, without having to resort to a Miracle..

| I have the perfect British Moth project for you GRF. Its 80 years old and made of "solid" planks of wood, not plywood, and the wood has shrunk so much there are quarter inch gaps between the planks. At the moment its slightly less sea worthy than a brick, but given a year or so of dedicated wood bothering I expect it could be restored... Its sitting in my lock up garage in the hopes that someone wants to take it on before I need the space... |

I think I've only ever been once before and this year I'm doing both days! I'm wondering if they'll have the new Vortex there, haven't heard much either way, but then we'd not have heard much from the other two if we hadn't pressed them here earlier.
And did I read somewhere the RS400 was going to get a bit of a makeover? Did that happen yet? Re. the new Vortex, can someone explain why a singlehanded dinghy with a centre mainsheet would benefit from a gnav? The new Vortex has done away with the rotating mast, and may well soon be using carbon, so I see no reason to retain the gnav. Gnavs make sense on 3000's because otherwise there isn't much room for the crew to have a head (though it is possible to move the kicker attachment forward on the boom and add purchases). But they cost more than standard cascade kickers, and imho don't bend the mast as nicely. | Although I'm no fan of the push kicker, one advantage for singlehaders is that it permits a very low gooseneck and an angle that doesn't push too much forward load into the mast. That does go part of the way to compensating for the reduced force going where you don't want it. |
