Does anyone have any info on this class; designed in the 70's as a fund-raiser for the WWF (the sail insignia is the WWF Panda). I have just acquired one and need a construction manual to complete the build. Its been stored for years apparently and the sails are crisp and shiny! Sail no 174.

Has anyone sailed one, seen one, have any photos of one, know anyone that's built one, who might be able to help me build this.

Info on the web is scanty apart from a guy who sold one on ebay about a year ago.

And more to the point - is it any good, and worth the effort to complete it...?

Working for a mailing company late 80s who did work for the WWF. We had two pandamarans the sales reps had them all week for marketing purposes. At the weekend however we were allowed to take them to a local waterpark assemble and sail them. Not being a regular sailor i can only say they were bloody good fun and hope you complete yours :)

thanks for that, any info at this satge is welcome. Do you happen to have any pictures...? Or any idea who from the WWF was involved at that stage.....?

Funny that there is so little info out there on the web..

Progress so far is good, I've sorted what appears to be all the cut parts into where they should go, so am forging ahead with the first hull, and that will be a template for the second...etc...then just bolt it together and off we go....!1

Have you tried contacting the chap who sold the one on ebay last year here in the UK. That one was sold with a set of construction plans maybe he could put you in touch with the new owner. Sadly i have no pics or any info on who at the wwf would be worth contacting.

If you Google 'pandamaran catamaran', and then click on Images, there are two (not very good) photographs of Pandamaran 110.

I have a Pandamaran I built in the 70's. I've had years of fun on it and it is still going strong. I moved to France 8 years ago and brought it with me. Alas I threw all the paperwork away for it.

If the kit is still complete it is quite easy to assemble and most things are self explanatory.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I'm in northern France near a town called Pontivy, We have a huge man made lake about 6 km away which was formed by blocking the Nantes- Brest canal to form a hydro-electric scheme. The lake is not much use for sailing though because it is in a deep ravine for most of the length an the wind tends to swirl around too much. It's call the lac de guerledan.

They are going to drain the lake next year to inspect the barrage which holds the water back. All the villages and roads which have been flooded will be visible and thousands of visitors are expected to come to view it.
