Hello,

I start an activity whose purpose is to design a hydro generator for cruising sailboat.

It is a system that is placed in the back of a sailboat and generates electricity to recharge the batteries when the boat is moving.

Its characteristic is to produce electricity with a low fluid velocity and with very little inertia, which is interesting for cruising yachts in slow motion.

We will start the production of prototypes.

To best meet the needs of boaters we posted a questionnaire that you can find here:

  https://fr.surveymonkey.com/s/YX36P9V" rel="nofollow - https://fr.surveymonkey.com/s/YX36P9V

If you'll take a few minutes to answer this questionnaire, your help will be very valuable.

I should add that I know the legitimate reluctance of forums to host commercial communications. I took contact with the board administrator one month ago to ask if there could be a problem with this message on the forum. As I did not get an answer, I take the liberty to send it.

If this is a problem I will remove it.

 Sincerely.

I think you will get more cruising sailors on the forums at ybw.com

don't Watt&Sea already produce this and use it on the back of the IMOCA 60?

I think there have been others working at lower speeds.
An open 60 doing 15 knots is much easier to design around than a cruisng boat doing 4.5knots.

It seems to me that if you are motoring, then you have an alternator, if there is wind to sail there is wind to drive a wind generator, which will also work at anchor. So where is the big advantage of a water turbine?

Do they work if anchored in tide?

We try to have it work with as little flow as possible. We don't know yet the performances. We start making our first prototype. It will be finished at the end of october. We think it needs at least 3 nds of flow to produce.

Aquair works very well. I've used one for over 10,000nm in one year.
