They are so far off the scale, they're kind of cool, in the same way eccentric Weymouth Speed week types are, so I've always secretly admired them, even though when you go on their stand at the dinghy show they totally ignore any dumb questions you might pose, (another reason they're sort of cool), but, there is a limit to weirdness.

You have to ask...

WTF is going on with that hook thing on his right leg?

I mean the walking stick he's hung there for when he shuffles over the other side...

I take that as a yes then, look again! It goes from his hand, under his left leg, over his right leg.

Why would it defy gravity? Down then up then down?

It's a hooky stick thing for doing something technical, I'm sure of it, they do all manner of weird stuff canoeists..

OK, if that's not enough look at this one, it's got a pointy up stick and extra rope up the nose...And I bet he's also got a hooky stick thing hidden behind the sail..

Perfect port flyer?

Only if he flacked over straight after and covered, looked like it was lifting on starboard to me...

It sure looks like it, doesn't it, but its just the end of the mainsheet...

Here's a crop at full size, and one from the previous photo. You don't see it in any other pics from the series. If it's a walking stick its changing in length...

I'm amazed it looks so straight. It was pretty damn windy out there, but even so. By the way that's Colin Newman's old boat, Extended play, being sailed by Paul Hignett, who's better known in connection with Moths.

Well it must be very stiff mainsheet, no bend in either of those pics, you would think on the second shot, there would be some sort of sag, but I defer to your greater knowledge and they are your pics after all. So, what's with the rat chewed wiggle stick then, given it's monday and I'm so obviously bored...
