approaching the finish line, can you sail a boat outside the line and still cross yourself?
Which rule(s) apply here? (i'm being a bit thick and dont seem to be able to find it)Confused

All the normal rules apply and the ends count as marks which the inside boat gets mark room for. You can luff someone the wrong side of the line assuming you reached the 3BL zone clear ahead.

Not sure why you would want to luff someone to the wrong side of the line at a finish though.....

The important thing to remember is that the line end(s) count as marks at the finish but not at the start (the SIs may change this to offer protection for the committee boat).

Busy line, close in the series results, making them go around could cost them 5/10 points or in a handicap race 10 sec, definitely situations were it would be worth it. Although the only times I have attacked on the finish line have been in team racing.

but don't get too focussed on one opponent - its easy to let another boat in while you battle with the first one
