Does Mark Jardine work 24 hours a day? I sent a report for the Combs Byte open at about 8 pm last night and 'bingo' it was on! I did think that this could have been one of the wonders of the computer age but computers do not write sub-headlines. Or do they? Does Mr Jardine exist? Is he a woman? We may never know.

Yes, I work 24 hours a day and a couple of Saturdays ago I was a woman called Josephine.

we met a person claiming to be Mark Jardine at the FOM.

He could drink well and sail okay, so had all the right credentials for job in yotting journalism.  He seemed to have an intimate working knowledge of the history of the Southampton Uni SC for a man his years portray, and I got a long unanswered question finalised on 'who the f*ck built that funnel?' that landed me in a lot of trouble back in the 1990's.

I say man, I had assumed as much, the only time we clocked him in the mens changing room he was dressed as a beer bottle and drinking rum from an Aigle marimu boot, dancing to the tune of some burly Phantom sailor's misogynistic expletives... but then so was Fraggle, and she's definitely a girl (according to LaserNut anyway).

I am just impressed that she stays up all night waiting for my race reports.

I met what could have been a transgender type, he was hanging out near the toilets talking to a strange fella dressed as a beer bottle.

Takes all types...
