Just thought I'd post this here as I know you guys would appreciate it, also I feel it deserves its own post.

After years of trying on and off to beat Mr Graeme Fuller on his long board tonight it finally happened, the stars aligned and he lost.

I remember him saying about 3 years ago "if you ever beat me on a board, I'll eat it". I think today mr Fuller is the day to eat said board.

Not the windsurfing type but you can eat it on this discussion board.

Feel free to comment and mock :-).

I'm sure he'll either keep quiet or blame it on his age or something along those lines but still......

I WON Big smile

Dan

Well the boy done good, he actually did better in the first race where he came close to getting a third, he needs to brush up his downwind pumping and gybing skills, but all in all for the relatively short time he's been at it, he's actually done very well.

I might even have to get back into training, lose all this dinghy softness I've caught....

Windsurfing's the real world, got to encourage youngsters..

All I do is set the bar, take the piss if they can't jump it, but you have to acknowledge it when they do..

It's your turn now..

That's not a race, it's a muppet dash out to a buoy and back, no upwind, no downwind, no tacking, one gybe...

A lottery as to wether you get knocked off in the melee to clear the beach..

Having said that I did do it once and proved the total superiority of the longboard over boards with just fins, but honestly it's a victory not even worth the taking, I couldn't do it to even you....

Perfect for a windsurfer then... or perhaps even a kite board! Smile

exactly... if you're going to race boards, then don't bother pretending they're dinghies using dinghy courses and dinghy rules.... do this:

Defi Wind an extension of the old North One Hour classic we used to run for meatheads that can't think, Speedsailors love it. Unfortunately we don't quite have the reliability of the Mistral (the French wind) with which to guarantee the annual participation.

There was a year the Hayling event had that sort of wind, but it's very unusual, particularly at that time of year.

And anyway you'd fall off at the gybe and get in everyones ways, probably be fin slashed to death and I'd get the blame for encouraging you.

That, & God punishing me for riding a road bike, sailing a dinghy on a lake, using a stand up paddle board, self destructing in all manner of ways...

I shall turn up next week and put him back where he belongs some way over my shoulder way down the clew...

Note from hetracil said they've had unprecedented demand on UK stocks... something to do with some idiot jock playing a girls bat n' ball sport.

They anticipate all service to return to normal if the Lions get shown on terrestrial TV.
