Using a rotating Harken cam cleat base on my mainsheet and it's not running smoothly at all - it fact it wont move unless I push it.
Is there anything I can do to free it up?  Can't see an easy way into the bearings.

Ahh, a good soak in some very warm water seems to have done the tricky..... too much salt.
Wacko

Amazing what a good 20 minute boil will do to invigorate old fittings!

And how salty the water becomes!

Have had & done this many times with things like swivel bases, furling drums, muscle boxes (in the day) and hatches.... it pays to always hose your boat down after sailing!

....if you know it's going to be warm for a few days and you have a double-floor boat, then spray loads of water into the cavity and leave her, cover on, with the bungs open and as many hatches off as possible. You'd be amazed by how much weight this can remove in salt crystals that build up in there over time, if of course you sail on the sea, rather than those inland weirdo types and their killer shrimps...

yep, but it's a bit tricky when the boat spends 6 weeks on the beach with no hose!

Another useful thing is (if possible) take all the ropes off and put them through the washing machine. Amazing how soft and silky they feel afterwards!
