Hi

I have just sold my dry suit which I had worn 5 times as i found it two bulky to sail my laser in. I was looking at getting some zhik gear to where as a single layer over the winter but don't know what to get. Should I get the superwarm suit and top or the steamer wet suit, with both of these I would wear my hikers over the top. I would also like to know if the steamer repels water from the outside like the superwarm kit does.

Could people with experience of wearing these kits give some advice please anon what they think is warmest?

Thanks again, Isaac

If you going to still wear your hikers, then I suggest you don't need that thick a suit/longjohn, perhaps some hot legs?. A zhik super warm too would go well with hikers and perhaps a splash top.

I have been wearing hot legs but with super warm socks and I find that my super warm socks are a lot warmer than the hot stuff so want something a bit warmer for the colder month, the other thing I was trying to avoid was the spay top as I keep getting it caught on things

If you go super warm the use the zhik pads. If you double up I think you may find you loose too much flexibility.

Thanks for th advice,   How do the power pads work? Are they just a band that go round your leg under the super warm? Or are there pockets in the super warm for the pads?     Also how do you find them to use, do they work well or move about on your leg when sailing?

Hi the Zhik Powerpads are a neoprene band that are worn around the thigh and contain a removable batten. They come in various sizes and our  advice is to get a pair that feel quite tight when you pull them on. They then sit snuggly under a Zhik Superwarm or Micro Fleece wetsuit.
I hope this helps.
Best regards Simon

they sit snuggly under almost anything :P I got power pads at the dinghy show in March; one of the best purchases I've made. Once I got past the even-with-a-show-discount eyewateringly high price for such a simple bit of kit
