Yes I know the 1st job when rigging the boat from the trailer is to put the towball cover on - but I've now got a few grease marks on my new-ish still crispy spinny.

Any safe ideas for safe removal?

You can get it off using mechanics brake grease/dust remover.

I cant remember what its called but my mechanic friend has it in a bottle ready to spray, basically its the same stuff you clean brake discs with it they have dirt on them.

Let me find out and I'll get back to you.

how about swarfega? If Ok on hands, it should be fine for a sail. Might not work, of course...

One of the country's top engine builders cleaned his answering machine with brake cleaner..........it melted (so probably not a good idea for cleaning a spinny) - LOL

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll go carefully with washing up liquid - it's a job I should have done today
