In two minds myself, really can't decide, on the one hand I don't want the chnage and the expense, on the other I consider myself disenfranchised living in a 'safe' Tory seat.

I'm interested in all views

Ever willing to help, I would suggest you think of it in terms of either Fleet ("No") or Handicap ("Yes") racing........first over the line - or sit around for ever until someone's calculated a result which is as far from that as is possible.

Interesting analogy that X, kind of totally sums it up, so it's yes on that basis then.

There is no "post" in First Past the Post- the racing analogy is flawed. Winning a close fought battle in FPTP is a bit like the winner being declared sixty metres down a 100m final. Some MPs take their seat with little more a quarter of those that vote (let alone the electoral role) voting for them.

It's not hard to rank candidates. Hand counting does take a bit longer, but not that much longer- and in the constituencies where someone gets 50% of the first choice vote, it doesn't take any longer at all.

This isn't quite perfect, but it's a pretty good analogy for our purposes, in a language many of you will understand.

Well, if you're voting "yes" in the referendum.... bear in mind that you are hoping to get your way via a FPTP system! Smile
